Programs

Many programs offered by the CI-UHM have major co-sponsors.

The Chinese Language Teachers Education program (CLTE) was begun and operated from 2007-2010
with significant funding from the Freeman Foundation.
Work in this program is being continued by the CI-UHM. The 80+ Chinese language faculty and
dozen schools helped by Freeman funding are grateful to the Foundation for its seminal support.

The Summer Language Camp for Students and the Summer Teacher Training Institutes are funded by major awards
from the U.S. government’s STARTALK program, and co-sponsored by the University’s National Foreign Language Resource Center.

The Chinese Bridge programs for Administrators and Students are organized by the Chinese Language Council International
(Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban 汉办) in Beijing, sometimes in conjunction with the College Board.

The Chinese Language Council International and the PRC’s Ministry of Education offer scholarships to study short-term
and long-term in China, and the CI-UHM assists in the dissemination of these awards.
